From June 9–11, 2026, the YouthDMH COST Action welcomed PhD students, postdocs, and early-career researchers from across Europe to TU Wien, Austria, for its second Training School on digital mental health research. The programme, themed “Opportunities and Constraints in Designing Technologies for Digital Mental Health for the Youth”, combined keynote lectures, morning sessions, and daily Doctoral Consortium discussions to support both learning and peer exchange.
The Training School opened with sessions on digital media, digital transformation in mental healthcare, and open science and prototyping. The programme also included a parallel online Meet-a-Mentor event, open to all early-career researchers in our network. The second day focused on online help-seeking, technology design, games and well-being, and creativity-based approaches to mental wellbeing. On the final day, participants learned about designing interactive systems with youth, speech and conversation technologies for mental health, and a career journey in digital mental health research, followed by closing remarks. The Doctoral Consortium brought together PhD students and early-career researchers to present their work, receive expert feedback, and connect with peers across the field. The School also featured expert panels and structured opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange, strengthening its focus on practical feedback and career development.
The second YouthDMH Training School successfully brought together an interdisciplinary community and provided a space for networking, skill-building, and inspiration, equipping the next generation of researchers to drive meaningful change in the field. Thank you to Pawel W. Wozniak for organising and hosting this year´s training school.
